Kintsugi Inspired Earrings

By Poppy Mosbacher. Posted

If you have a small piece of wood leftover from a project, you could turn it into a pair of striking earrings with a little gold paint.

illustrisWorkshop has created this design based on the Japanese art form Kintsugi. They etched the grooves using a laser cutter and then filled it with a mix of epoxy glue and metallic paint. Alternatively you could make use of any natural imperfections in scrap wood.

Instructions to make your own earrings can be found here. The earrings are also available to buy from illustrisWorkshop’s Etsy store.

More information on Kintsugi and how to repair objects can be found on pages 58-59 of Issue 26.
