Gingerbread 3D Printer

By Poppy Mosbacher. Posted

This edible centrepiece has been made using 3D printed cookie cutters, which are available to download here.

The 3Demon-3Dprint team, who baked the project, suggest assembling the small gingerbread shapes first as “gluing a sliding extruder to a standing printer” is a challenge. The shapes are connected using royal icing, but you can hide the joins with cocoa. They recreated the filament using Fini Roller candy and strawberry laces.

If you’d like to design your own cookie cutters, the video below shows how to do it using Adobe Illustrator and TinkerCAD.

Instructions to make the gingerbread 3D printer are available here.

Safety warning - Make sure you use food-safe filament and that the 3D printer's nozzle does not contain lead.
